In 1874. Shizuma Origasa, who was once a samurai of Aizu's domain and now worked as a pedicab puller, began a search to find her missing fiance, Sumie Kanomata. However, an unexpected change of events pushed him into the newly established police ranks, ensnared him in pursuing conspiracy that aims to overthrow the government.
